Mike Scannell
Biography
Mike Scannell is an ACC alum and graduate of The University of Texas film production program. He went on to teach film production classes for ACC’s radio-television-film department while working as an independent producer, editor, and cinematographer on projects ranging from features to music videos to commercials to documentaries.
Since 2014, Mike has been working as a screenwriter best known for his work on the feature films HE’S OUT THERE and SLENDER MAN, both of which were produced by Sony Screen Gems and released in 2018. He executive produced the horror film THE DARK AND THE WICKED which was released in 2020. He went on to write the episode SMILE in the 4th season of the CREEPSHOW television series which was released on AMC and SHUDDER in October 2023. Currently, Mike is developing and writing his next horror feature and a new Sci-Fi/Horror television series.
Mike is looking forward to sharing his experiences in the film and television industry and being inspired by the next generation of filmmakers here at Austin Community College.
