English 1301: English Composition I. A study of the principles of composition with emphasis on language, the mechanics of writing, the types of discourse, and research and documentation.

English 1302: English Composition II. A continuation of English 1301 with emphasis on analysis of readings in prose fiction.

Englih 2327: American Literature: Beginnings through Civil War. A survey of American literature from its origins through the Civil War period.

English 2333: World Literature: 18th Century to the Present. Introduction to masterpieces of the literary tradition from the 18th Century (the Enlightenment) to the present.

English 100 (now English 0190): Developmental Composition. A developmental course in which students develop skills in reading and writing in preparation for ENGL 101 by analyzing the writing of students and professionals and by developing paragraphs and short essays.

English 101: Beginning Composition. A basic composition course in which students compose clear, concise expository essays.

English 102: Essay and Research. A continuation of ENGL 101 expanded to include argumentation, logic, and research techniques.

English 111: First Year Composition. An accelerated combination of ENGL 101 and ENGL 102. Students receive training in the fundamentals of exposition and argumentation through using the writing process.

English 250: Writing About the American Experience. An intermediate writing course that extends and refines skills in expository and argumentative writing, critical reading, and critical thinking by having students analyze, discuss, and write about major topics pertaining to the theme of the American Experience.

English 252: Images of Men and Women. An intermediate writing course that extends and refines skills in expository and argumentative writing, critical reading, and critical thinking by having students analyze, discuss, and write about major topics pertaining to the theme of gender in the United States.

English 0190: Introduction to Composition. A writing-intensive course that focuses on development and improvement of reading and writing skills in preparation for English 1100. Using a process writing method, students develop compositions for multiple purposes and with a multi-modal focus.

English 1100: Composition I. A beginning composition course that develops processes for critically reading, writing, and responding to a variety of texts in order to compose clear, concise expository essays. The course facilitates an awareness of the interplay among purpose, audience, content, structure, and style, while also introducing research and documentation methods

English 1100W: Composition I Online.

English 2367: Composition II. An intermediate composition course that extends and refines skills in expository and argumentative writing, critical reading, and critical thinking. This course also refines skills in researching a topic, documenting sources, and working collaboratively. Course reading and writing assignments are organized around the diversity of those who comprise the identities.

English 291: U.S. Literature from 1865 to the Present.  A literary survey course highlighting the major movements and figures of American literary after the Civil War.

English 261: Introduction to Fiction.  An introduction to major figures, techniques and movements.

English 367: The American Experience.  The second of two required composition courses.  Students write about texts from a variety of sources and diverse authors.

English 367.02: The American Experience as Reflected in Literature. Themes included: “Alien Encounters: The American Experience As Reflected in Science Fiction Literature” and “American Gothic: The American Experience As Reflected in American Gothic Literature”

English 110: First Year Composition.  A first year composition course focused on analytical process writing.

English 110L: First Year Composition with a Literature Focus.  The first year composition course with a focus on literature.

English 110C: First Year Composition in a Computer Supported Classroom.
