Teaching Experience

From 1969 to 1994, I was teaching undergraduate and graduate students at different colleges and universities around the world.  From 1975 to 1994, I was also very active in the research field and my group was involved in the synthesis of bioinorganic and bioorganic compounds that could be useful as potential anticancer compounds. Using a combination of synthesis, NMR, ESR, Mossbauer, kinetics, we designed and implemented studies oriented at the development of anticancer agents.  In specific, we focused upon synthesis of metal compounds of thiosemaicarbazones and studied their mechanism of reaction against cancer by using different physical techniques.  We published 100+ research papers in highly reputed scientific journals like Inorganic Chemistry, J. Inorganic Biochemistry, Gazetta Chimcia Italiana, Biochemistry, Langmuir, etc.  Under my supervision, fourteen students had received PhD and were trained for careers in academic teaching/research institutions. My students have been most successful in this regard with many now holding such positions. I presented my research work in various International and National conferences, seminars and have received international award for the work in Cancer Chemotherapy field.  Before coming to Texas, I was working as Visiting Professor at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin and as a senior post-doc at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. I also worked at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) from 1989 to 1994 and then moved to Austin Community College, Austin in the same year.  Since then I am only involved in teaching various courses of Chemistry at ACC.  I also brought my extensive international experience working with my many foreign collaborators.
