Austin Community College
Position: Full time faculty member since 8/2004; adjunct faculty member
since 1997.

(levels 1-4), plus serve on a variety of departmental and college wide
committees, including the Assessment Committee and Foreign Language
Honor Society, Alpha Mu Gamma, faculty advisor.
Texas State University at San Marcos
Position: Spanish Instructor (1/2002 – 8/2004)
Job responsibilities: Prepare and teach introductory Spanish courses
(1410, 1420, 2310, 2320), as well as Advanced Composition, Spanish for
Social Work, and Advanced Business Spanish courses. Also used the
online workbook that accompanies the text.
Southwestern University
Position: Spanish Instructor / Visiting Professor (8/1998-12/2001)
Job responsibilities: Teach introductory Spanish classes (levels 1-4), and
Advanced Composition and Business Spanish. In addition, taught the intensive Spanish Summer Institute
for Social Work students. Also used the Language Learning Center as a key
component of the class.
University of Texas - Austin
Position: Assistant Instructor (8/1995 – 12/1999)
Job responsibilities: Prepare and teach introductory Spanish classes
(levels 506, 507, 312K, 312L). I was the Assistant Supervisor for first
semester courses in the 1997-1998 academic year. I also taught computer-
assisted first semester classes.
University of Missouri – St. Louis
Position: Adjunct Instructor (5/1994-8/1995)
Job responsibilities: Prepare and teach introductory Spanish classes (levels
1-3). Also taught an intensive summer course in which students received
credit for Spanish I, II and III.
Saint Louis University
Position: Adjunct Faculty / Teaching Assistant (8/1993-5/1995)
Job responsibilities: Prepare and teach introductory Spanish classes
(levels 1-4). I was the supervisor for the first semester courses from
1/1994-5/1995. In addition, I helped to develop new and innovative
Activities to be used during the required language lab. This was a state-of-
the-art laboratory, with individualized computer systems and headphones
for each student.
Concordia Publishing House
Position: Assistant in Ethnic Resources Department (5/1993-10/1993)
Job responsibilities: Prepare ethnic documents for publishing; translate,
Revise and edit texts in Spanish, including “Portals of Prayer”; answer
questions from the Latin American community about items available in
Spanish.
Private instructor / translator: 5/1989 – present
Job responsibilities: Teach / tutor Spanish to individuals, and voluntarily
translate documents for several non-profit agencies, including Any Baby
Can, the Domestic Violence Hotline, and the Texas Runaway Hotline.
Independence Center
Position: Volunteer / Spanish Instructor (1/1992-12-1993)
Job responsibilities: Teach Spanish to mentally challenged individuals,
including schizophrenics as part of a rehabilitation program.
Volunteer (2/1992-6/1993)
Responsibilities: Teach English and tutor the children of two families who
moved to St. Louis from Mexico without knowing English, and whom
were placed in the public school system with no English as a Second
Language program.
University of Missouri – St. Louis
Position: Teaching Assistant for Psychology Research Methods (1993)
Job responsibilities: Teach and prepare laboratories for students in Psych
219 (Research Methods), and evaluate and grade students’ performance.
University of Missouri – St. Louis
Position: Tutor for the Students with DisAbilities Association (1992-1993)
Job responsibilities: Tutor several students with disabilities in their
Psychology classes, including visually impaired students.
Volunteer: (1999-2000)
Mentor to 3rd grade Hispanic students at Palm Elementary in Southeast
Austin.

- President of Sigma Delta Pi, Spanish Honor Society, 1994-1995 (member since 1992). During this time, I created many new events, including a fundraiser dinner to help support Nicaraguan refugees.
