Study Abroad Teaching Experience:
European Union Paris Program
Founder, Director & Lecturer
Designed and coordinated the program. Developed curriculum on Interpersonal and Organizational Communication in the European Union. The program explored communication processes of changing and emerging identities using the EU countries as models. The program was a 6-9 credit intensive 9 week summer program in Paris. Ten students from the United States were accepted per summer. The fundamental goal of the program was to help studentsdevelop communication competence in the European culture and workplace, which deepened their understanding of the European Union and international relationships and identities.
Curriculum topics included: The European Union and the the International Community, Doing Business in the EU, Communication and Multicultural Issues, Xenophobia, Political and Business Goals of the EU, Communication and International Communication Relationships-both personal and private, Profiles of EU member countries, including communication social patterns, communication culture climate, cultural relationships, economic policy.
As part of the curriculum the program offered students a valuable life and work experience through an internship in their future field with organizations in Paris included:

Co-Founder, Fonda de la Paz, a 501(c)(3) peace education organization based in Austin, Texas. The mission of Fonda de la Paz is to bring more peace into the world and build community by raising awareness of peace, environmental and human rights issues. Some of our projects have included:

“Make a Difference University Projects:”
Organizing college students to make a difference. Projects students have initiated have helped people from all walks of life, and animals, including Austin Homeless Alliance, Sabu International School in Africa, African AIDS orphans, local Austin animal shelters. One of the goals of Fonda de la Paz working with college students is for students to form a life long interest in being involved in helping local and international communities in need.

Helping youth to get involved with worldwide issues such as hunger, animal rights, clean water & AIDS orphans.
Scholarship & Communication Research Interests:
Research concerning communication revolving around of the formation of the European Union and its impact on identity, political culture, international business culture, and personal relationships across new emerging cultures. Another research area I have been involved in the last couple of years is the effect of movie and documentary media on public and private involvement in human right and environmental political issues.
