Teaching Experience

August, 2019- Present: Austin Community College

I became a member of the Full-Time ACC Faculty in August of 2019 teaching in the Math Department.

August, 2003- Present, Austin Community College

For 16 years I have taught the various developmental math classes, College Algebra and College Mathematics to adults ranging in age from 19 to 45.  I usually teach 2 classes per semester.  I have taught College Algebra since the Spring of 2007 and College Math since the Spring of 2008.

July, 2017-present : I am the testing coordinator and math curriculum support specialist at Travis HS and Grad Prep Academy.

June, 2016- July, 2017: I worked at the University of Texas Online High School writing an online Calculus course among other student related duties, including testing coordinator and students with special needs coordinator.

August, 2003-Present: Austin ISD- Travis High School

Math Instructional Specialist, Math Dept Chair, & Math Teacher

In my seven years at THS, I have taught every class in the math department at least once.  I have contributed to our increased success of students passing the Calculus AP AB & BC exam, and have served as department chair for 5 years.  As Math Instructional Specialist, I also observe the Math teachers on a regular basis and offer suggestions for improving instruction, teaching strategies, and leading planning meetings for our common lesson plans.  I have been the curriculum specialist for 3 years and we have enjoyed double digit gains in our TAKS scores each year.

August, 2002-2003: Eanes ISD- Westlake High School

While at WHS, I taught PreCalculus and Calculus while co-sponsoring the Student Council and planning the Junior/Senior Prom.  I did enjoy my time at WHS, yet missed the diversity and challenges of teaching in AISD.

August, 2000- May 2002: Austin ISD- Akins High School

Position:  Mathematics Teacher, Pal Teacher and Student Council Sponsor

I enjoyed being part of the founding faculty of AHS.  I had the pleasure of building the upper lever math programs, as well as PALs and Student Council.

August, 1996- May, 2000:  Austin ISD– Crockett High School

Position: Mathematics Teacher and Student Council Sponsor

Teaching at CHS was my first chance at a high school.  I very much enjoyed the change from junior high and worked with every level of class from Algebra I to AP Calculus BC.  I also worked there to revive the student council organization.

August, 1994 – May, 1996: Austin ISD– Kealing Jr. High

Position:   Mathematics Teacher

Duties:  I taught a majority of the 7th graders enrolled in 7th grade Magnet Mathematics/Pre-Algebra.  I also worked on the curriculum to improve the program for the following year.  During the ‘95-‘96 school year, I took over as student council sponsor.  This was the first year that the council attended both district and state convention.
