EXPERIENCE Adjunct, Professor – Austin Community College- Austin, Texas | 2006 – PRESENT | Prepare and teach courses to a diverse student population based on the discipline's course learning outcomes and standards. Help students develop metalinguistic awareness, learn to analyze texts with reading skills, effectively apply various speaking styles, and write different modes of academic essays. Participate in departmental responsibilities, including serving on the assessment committee and work groups assigned by the chair; assist in the planning, developing, and evaluating the instructional program. Give detailed and timely feedback to students and evaluate their progress in the light of departmental expectations; collaborate with other faculty to improve students’ learning progress. Create a nurturing teaching atmosphere in the class without discriminating based on students’ race, religion, ethnic background, age, political affiliation, or gender identity. . Adjunct, Professor – Middle East Technical University – Ankara, Turkey | 1988-1994 | Taught all components of the English language as a tool for communicating and broadening experiences. Guided students so they apply knowledge and skills in unfamiliar contexts. Established the first drama club in the department and incorporated improvisational theater exercises into the classroom to expand upon English literature and improve their presentation skills. Increased students’ interest in core subjects by introducing realia and graphically rich presentation slides. Conducted research based on the students’ study skills to develop a reliable method of effective language learning strategies. Prepared materials for teacher in-service training programs and assisted in the planning, development, and evaluation of language instructional programs of the Basic English Department.
