Christian Raymond
BIOGRAPHY
Christian Raymond’s adventures in media run the gamut, from writing screenplays in Hollywood for the likes of Disney to producing character-driven educational video programs and co-creating films with under-resourced communities in Transylvania, Romania.
As a program director at Austin Studios for eight years, he developed the Austin Film Society’s multifaceted community program de novo, to include building the youth media initiative, MCM (Minds Create Media) Studios, a creative mentorship program serving over two thousand students at fifteen Title 1 schools. Raymond has taught in high school and colleges, including in Radio-Television-Film at UT-Austin. As longtime editor-in-chief of the film journal Persistence of Vision, he's written extensively on topics like the use of digital storytelling approaches for community impact, works often coinciding with other creative work, such as through the animated exploratory storytelling model, the Transmedia Tesseract.
After joining ACC in 2011, Raymond served as RTF Department Chair over 13 years to evolve and build new programs for students, culminating with a leadership role in envisioning and development of the new collaborative creative digital media center at the Highland Campus. Raymond’s creative/community initiatives have received support or been honored by the National Endowment for the Arts, CEC Artslink, the South by Southwest Interactive Festival, and others. In 2025, he was recognized at ACC with a national NISOD Teaching Excellence Award. Other creative work includes his debut novel, Howl of the Ice, which among awards, won the top prize in the state from the Texas Author Project, and was profiled by the likes of Kirkus Reviews. Taking inspiration from the motto “Giving is Living,” Raymond is on a daily basis grateful to learn from, teach, and work with students and the greater ACC community.
