My name is Charlotte Cooper. I did not start out as a nurse in the medical field. Upon graduation from high school I knew I wanted to be in the medical field, not nursing at that point in time, so I went to Texas State University and obtained my degree in Respiratory Therapy and Allied Health Management. As a staff therapist I worked in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for many years. I was also fortunate to be the Director of Cardiopulmonary department for several years which was very rewarding. I obtained my nursing degree after a physician started asking me everyday when I was going to become a nurse. They finally convienced me I needed to get my nursing degree so I did. I have never regreted that decision.
