Course Requirements
To access your online course the first week, go to the Blackboard site, then complete the orientation. The login for Blackboard is found at: https:// acconline.austincc.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp. Orientation IS required.
The following is a brief overview of the class.
Communication
All correspondence with faculty and staff will be done through your ACC email address. It is especially important to check this account at least three times a week.
Expectations
This class is IN-PERSON, but some work will be done online; therefore, do not expect it to be easier than a traditional lecture course. You will have to be self-disciplined in meeting all deadlines. A course calendar will be provided to you, which shows the due dates for assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, and exams. Failure to meet these deadlines will result in an automatic zero.
Assignments
All assignments will be available to you in the first week of class. Due dates are indicated in the course calendar. You can turn them in early if you wish.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives
This course is designed to familiarize the student with the most recent developments in community-based corrections, including implementation, management, effectiveness, and challenges. It provides detailed descriptions of major alternatives to incarceration, assumptions underlying programs, and outcome studies. This course is structured to provide motivated students with opportunities to master a body of knowledge on the current state of community corrections.
