Prerequisite: GRPH 1359: Vector Graphics for Production

●    Computer with internet access

●    Webcam and microphone—you will need to use your camera and mic during virtual meetings for support/tutoring

Software You Will Need 

• Adobe CC subscription, to access Adobe Illustrator and other programs we will use.
• Browsers: Google Chrome, Safari and/or Firefox
• Blackboard
• ACC Google Apps: including calendar, docs and drive

There is no required textbook for this course, but we will often refer to Adobe Help articles. It is recommended that students use Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book 2026 as a reference text.

Advanced study in the concepts and use of Adobe Illustrator vector graphics software for a range of print and digital projects. Skill development in the use of image creation tools, techniques, effects and transformation options to produce complex vector illustrations for print and web-based media. Mastery in manipulation of both text and graphics with emphasis on the use of the drawing tools, brushes and patterns, 3d, gradient mesh and perspective tools.

• Identify the capabilities and functions of drawing, transformation and shape tools in Adobe Illustrator
• Demonstrate skills in the use of vector specific capabilities for typesetting
• Show efficient planning and file organization techniques
• Apply conceptual planning techniques in the development of graphic design 
• Analyze production problems encountered and recommend solutions
• Apply skills in the combination of raster and vector elements to create designs Distinguish between, and correctly apply, the various color models for print and web-based projects
• Demonstrate knowledge of advanced tools in Adobe Illustrator such as custom brushes and patterns, masks, symbols, graphic styles and various effects including 3D, gradient mesh and perspective.
• Decide when vector graphics will be the appropriate solution for a specific graphic design project
