This is an online class.  No Face-2-Face classes.  All exams and assignments must be submitted online via the Blackboard Ultra.

Exams and Special Project:       All must be submitted via Blackboard Ultra.  Exams are not timed nor proctored.  They’re based on honor system.

Mid-Term 1 Due Friday, September 11, 2026)           40%         (Chapters  1, 1A, 3, 4, 19)                                                     

Final Exam Due Friday, October 16, 2026)         40%               (Chapters  5, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 11)                

Special Project Due Friday, October 2, 2026)      20%           (Answering questions by applying course materials)

Exams consist of 45 ~ 60 questions, mostly multiple choice plus some short answers.  They’re directly out of lecture notes.  Be sure you understand every term listed under “Review Topics” for each chapter.  You can use textbook for additional reference since it has additional graphs and examples for each topic.

Special Project has a set of real-life questions that must be answered applying materials learned in the class.  The purpose of the project is to apply why you have learned in the classroom to real life scenarios.

Make-up Exams (Only for face-to-face classes):     Make-up examination will be permitted only in the case of an emergency.  It must be taken in the testing center prior to the next class period.  It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with the instructor regarding the date of the make-up exam.


Readings

In addition to the textbook, other reading sources all have been posted to Blackboard.  They include lecture notes, handouts, lecture recordings and review topics.  Be sure to keep up with all reading materials.  Do not wait until last minute to prepare for each exam.  Ask questions, ask questions, and ask questions.


Course Subjects

Basics, Supply & Demand, Consumer Theory, Market Failures, Theory of the Firm, Perfect Competition, Monopoly, Monopolistic Competition, Oligopoly, Poverty & Income Distribution, Input Markets. 


Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Apply the basic concepts of scarcity and opportunity cost (Ch. 1);

Manipulate the basic demand and supply model to determine an equilibrium price and quantity, changes to equilibrium price and quantity, and their impact on resource allocation (Ch. 3);

Critically evaluate the usage of policy in Microeconomic markets (Ch’s 4 & 19);

Explain the theory of consumer behavior (Ch’s 5 & 5A);

Explain the theory of the firm (Ch 7);

Model and explain the theoretical market structures of perfect competition, monopoly and imperfect competition (Ch’s 8 – 12).
