Course Requirements

Successful completion of college algebra or higher-level math course; have an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree. Successful completion of BAT APMT 3310 Automation Control course.


Readings

Course material will be made on Blackboard. No textbook is required.


Course Subjects

Review PLC programming skills and model common manufacturing applications; Understand Human Machine Interfaces and how they are used in automation; Become familiar with the most common HMI software; Be able to create visualization screens that can monitor process parameters; Completed visualization projects to demonstrate your knowledge.

Identify components of automation systems

      Understand the architecture of a PLC and its components

Understand the functions of the components of a PLC

Understand the LOGIC operations

Understand the basic Rockwell CCW programming instructions

Program simple process control functions using CCW PLC instructions and ladder diagrams

Connect CCW PLC programming to Allen Bradley Micro820 PLC module

Download and execute the process control functions and debug

Understand the functions of HMI

Create simple functional HMI screens to execute the process control functions

Describe the function of the SCADA systems

Complete HMI projects to demonstrate your knowledge
