COURSE DESCRIPTION
A study of the Sun and its solar system:
planets, satellites, meteors, comets, asteroids.
Theories about the structure and origin of the
solar system, with emphasis on recent
discoveries. Includes a scientific investigation of
other solar systems and the possibilities for
extraterrestrial life

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
COURSE-LEVEL STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon successful completion of this course, the
student will be able to:
● Demonstrate an understanding of the nature
of physical science / Scientific Method and
how it developed while it was used to
uncover the secrets of our Solar System .
● Demonstrate an understanding of the nature
of physical science which controls the Solar
System.
● To demonstrate a knowledge of how
historically we in Western Europe learned of
the relationship the Solar System to the
remainder of the Universe.
● To understand the several strong
connections between the Earth and the
Sun.
● Demonstrate an understanding of the nature
of the two main types of planets in our solar
system.
● Be able to Intercompare the members of the
rocky planets with the giant planets but also
with our Earth.
