Course Description
POFI 1349 - Spreadsheets - Excel (3-2-3)
Spreadsheet software for business applications. Specific instructions for skill development in the use of Excel. Topics include worksheet creation and manipulation functions, templates, macro programming database functions, data-table features, and graphics. This course covers the required skill sets on the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) specialist level exam.

COURSE RATIONALE
This course is designed to provide students preparing for careers as Administrative Assistants with a basic knowledge of Excel 2021. Students will be able to use Excel 2021 to produce spreadsheets for business applications.

DISTANCE EDUCATION (for online)
Excel is a "Online" course. You will able be complete assessments and assignments in the online setting, also. Students can enjoy the convenience of scheduling courses to better fit their busy lives, and benefit from the self-directed learning activities, advancing their time management, critical-thinking, and technical skills. Students will use the Blackboard learning management system for assignment instructions, submitting assignments, assessments, and collaboration.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY

You will be given assignments, practices, exams to complete. This course will use the Cengage/MindTap software to complete all assignments and exam. Each Module contains several problems to complete accurately. All Modules, are set up the same. At the beginning of each Module, it will explain contents of the Module, then it gives a list all the Objectives. Each Objective will have Steps to follow, it will explain the Objective and in the section name “DETAILS” or “STEPS” which gives steps or information to be followed. As you follow each step, some of the steps will refer to an illustration to reference the task. The “STEPS” will also ask you to go to your Data files and click on the file you will be working on. All Data files are provided on Blackboard and in Cengage. All assignments are submitted on Blackboard and in Cengage, accordingly. The instructions provided will let students know which are required to be submitted in Blackboard and which are submitted in Cengage.

Exams are provided at the end of each Module, in Cengage.

Capstone Exams are given at the end of each section. There are three capstone exams and are location in the Cengage software

Final Project will test all principles covered in Excel 2021 you will have to create your own worksheet using 25 or more different functions you have learned in Excel. An instruction sheet will be provided.
