Course Requirements

  1. Orientation: There is a short Orientation directly through Blackboard and is required to certify attendance in the course. The orientation must be completed by noon, Friday of the first week of class to avoid being automatically dropped from the course.
  2. Attendance: Students will use Blackboard management system for assignment instructions, submission, and collaboration. Chapter PowerPoints cover the highlights of each chapter. There are also short supplementary videos included to aid in absorbing the information.
  3. Chapter Quizzes: There will be a short quiz over each chapter (20 chapters). ALL 20 QUIZZES ARE REQUIRED. There will be ten questions for one point each/20 points per quiz.  Students will access and submit the quizzes on Blackboard; quizzes are REPEATABLE.
  4. Exams: There will be two (2) exams (a midterm and final). The exams are taken directly from the chapter quizzes and supplemental videos. The exams have 50 questions and will cover chapters 1-8 and 9-20 respectively.
  5. Labs: There are four labs that are designed to allow you a chance to apply knowledge in a practical way. Details are provided on the Labs tab on Blackboard. Each lab is worth 100 points.
  6. Grades: Grades are based upon quizzes, labs, participation, and exams. The specific grading requirements for this course are as follows:      

A = 900 - 1000 points

B = 800 - 899 points

C = 700 - 799 points

D = 600 - 699 points

F =    0 - 599 points

Chapter Quizzes         400 points

Labs                            400 points

Midterm                      100 points

Final Exam                  100 points

Total                           1000 points

Extra Credit: There is a short Exit Exam for an additional 15 extra credit points covering basic fitness and health knowledge.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Student Learning Outcomes: Students will define their coaching philosophy. Students will be able to manage a budget. Students will be able to create/put together a coaching program. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of tryouts.
