Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Define basic parts of speech/grammatical structures and identify them in sentences - review nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions; add subjects, objects, clauses, phrases, transitive, intransitive;
2. Accurately conjugate and combine verb forms:
Review
● simple present
● present progressive
● simple past
● past progressive
● future forms - will, be going to,
Introduce
● future forms - simple present and present progressive
● present perfect
● present perfect progressive
● modals
Review Yes/No Questions and wh-questions. Introduce tag questions; Create syntactically correct sentences with there is/there are
Identify the proper verb tense for sentences based on context; Describe the rationale for the use of each verb tense; Distinguish between comparisons and superlatives and use them in grammatically correct sentences;
Apply the rules to include or omit definite and indefinite articles; Discriminate between gerunds/infinitives and use them in grammatically correct sentences; Create sentences which include the proper structuring of separable and inseparable phrasal verbs.
