Course Requirements

Pre-approval required for enrollment by the Professional Nursing Department. Minimum grade of “C” in Biol 2304, Biol 2420, Biol 2305, Pharm 2300.

Potter and Perry. Fundamentals of Nursing. (Latest edition). Elsevier. St. Louis

Course Subjects

Study of concepts and principles essential for demonstrating competencies in the performance of nursing procedures. Topics include knowledge, judgment, skills, and professional values in a legal / ethical framework.


Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Student Learning Outcomes
In order to complete Nursing Skills 1, the student must be able to meet the following
objectives:
1. Describe concepts and principles that are basic to the safe performance of
nursing skills
2. Demonstrate competence in the performance of nursing procedures
3. Communicate clearly the English language in speaking, reading, and writing
during performance and evaluation of nursing procedures and simulated nurse-
patient interactions
4. Demonstrate the values of the nursing profession
