Course Requirements
Course Description: Weight Training: Designed to help students identify and understand the benefits of weight training and how weight training affects the body. Students will also be able to design and develop a balanced weight training program to meet their needs. (ACC Catalog/prerequisites: none)
You will maintain a daily training journal by recording your workout for each day. You will receive points per journal entry.
Grades are based on attendance, participation and answering weekly questions. If you have any questions concerning grading, please ask me.
The specific grading requirements for this course are as follows:
Grades: A= 90-100 points
B= 80-89 points
C= 70-79 points
D= 60-69 points
F= 0-59 points
Points are earned per training journal submissions.
Course Subjects

Course Outline/Calendar:
Each day’s class will consist of
General warm up and dynamic stretching.
Weight training exercises assigned by muscle group.
Core and trunk stabilization exercises.
Post training static or dynamic stretching.
*Training may be altered according to individual needs or requests.
You will learn various strengthening exercises throughout the semester. The day’s workout will be assigned in class and available also on blackboard. Each new exercise will be demonstrated in class. During the course, you should track your work.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will know what exercises will work what muscle groups. Students will be able to perform basic strength exercises to the best of their individual abilities.
Departmental Objectives:
1.To learn the rules, fundamentals, skills and strategies of learning how to weight train.
2. To learn how to correctly execute required skills and techniques as well as to use the equipment/facilities safely.
3. To understand how Kinesiology relates to a healthy individual lifestyle.
Course Objectives:
- To learn the rules, fundamental skills, history and safety of weight training.
- To understand the structure, physiological, and performance effects of weight training.
- To improve physical fitness through weight training and conditioning.
- To guide students in planning an individualized weight training program.
Instructional Methodology
Instructional Methodology (Lecture/lab): This class is an activity and participation course; the specific task/exercise(s) for students to complete will be demonstrated. Students will then complete the task/exercise(s) to the best of their ability. All content can also be accessed through Blackboard.
This course is an online course.
