INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY
This is an online synchronous course. You will read assigned chapters and attend classes via Zoom meetings. Assignments and a final paper will be submitted on-line through Blackboard using your electronic device and network connection. Extra credits are available and will be discussed by your instructor.
Course Subjects
The course focuses on effective supply chain strategies for organizations that operate globally with emphasis on how to plan and integrate supply chain components into a coordinated system. Specifically, the course seeks to integrate different perspectives from the practices of marketing, logistics, and operations management. The course will introduce key tactics such as risk pooling and inventory placement, integrated planning, and information sharing. One of the key objectives is to understand the relationship between a focal firm and its suppliers and customers.
The topical areas covered include:
- Building a strategic framework to analyze supply chains
- Designing the supply chain network
- Planning and coordinating demand and supply in the supply chain
- Planning and managing inventories in a supply chain
Designing and planning transportation networks
