Course Requirements

Prerequisites:  This course requires students to be TSI Complete in Reading and Writing.

Class Policies:

1. Our class is a 5-week asynchronous course. Asynchronous courses allow students to engage in the material at their own pace while following the general course schedule. Be prepared to stay consistently engaged in the course material and assignments.

2. Good attendance in this class means staying on top of the course schedule.

3. The majority of assignments for each of the five modules are due by 11:59 p.m. on the following Sundays: July 13, July 20, July 27, August 3, and August 10.

4. To have your attendance certified in the class, complete the Syllabus Quiz and Discussion Board #1 by July 9, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. You will likely be dropped from the course if you do not complete these two assignments before this deadline.

5. The Faculty Advising assignment will take place across Modules 2 to 4.

6. Submit assignments on time. You don’t have to wait until the due date! If you require additional time on an assignment due to unforeseen circumstances, email me with a plan to complete the missing assignments. If you do not email me before the deadline, you will get a zero and not be able to make up the assignment.

6. Take notes to support your learning.

7. Please be respectful to students on the discussion boards and during group work.

8. The last day to withdraw from the class is August 4.

9. Email me if you have questions or concerns. I am happy to hear from you!

10. Take advantage of the many resources at ACC to help support your success.

AI Policies:

1. The use of generative AI to complete writing assignments for this course is prohibited. In this class, the writing process allows us to reflect on our learning experiences in relation to the course material. Using generative AI defeats that purpose.

2. Using generative language sites to complete writing assignments for this course is a form of academic misconduct.

3. If I detect or suspect you have used AI to complete an assignment, I will email you or communicate with you via email or Blackboard. If you do not respond to my email or communication regarding suspected use of AI, you will get a zero on the assignment.

4. If I determine that you used generative language AI to complete a writing assignment, you will have one opportunity to redo the assignment.

5. If I determine that you used generative language AI a second time to complete a writing assignment, you may fail the course and be referred for academic misconduct.

6. See the college’s policies for Academic Integrity for more information about the implications of academic misconduct.

Your grade will be based on the following activities using a point system. Below is a list of points you can earn during this course for the assigned work that will be submitted to Blackboard. The instructor will determine participation and attendance grades.
