Course Requirements

In addition to completion of all 16 hours of required field experiences, your grade will be based on the following:

Getting to Know You Form

At the start of the semester, students will complete a form introducing themselves to their professor.

Lab Placement Form

At the start of the semester, students will complete a form related to their planned fieldwork. Documentation must be signed/verified by the student’s on-site supervisor.

Chapter Quizzes

Students will complete four quizzes over the course of the semester. Each quiz will contain a variety of multiple choice, true/false, and/or short answer questions. These quizzes are designed to ensure that you’re reading the textbook for this course and that you are prepared for class. Since the activities are designed to prepare you for class meetings, please note that the only way to obtain credit for a Quiz is to take it by the due date. No credit will be given for any late work.

Observation Assignments

For this assignment you will complete an observation of children and interpret their development.

Fieldwork Timesheet

You will need to submit your completed timesheet documenting fieldwork hours by the end of the semester to successfully complete the course.

Family Interview Project - Key Assessment

The Child Care and Development program at ACC is accredited by NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children. As an accredited program, our courses must meet certain criteria and align to national standards which serve as “a vision of excellence” for students preparing to work in early childhood education. The Family Interview Project in CDEC 1359 is one of six key assessments our faculty have designed to specifically align to accreditation standards set forth by NAEYC. For this assignment, you will complete a series of assignments that are components of the final project. You will then compile those assignments into a final project that you’ll share with peers in class. Students must complete this assignment; if a student does not submit this assignment, they automatically fail the course.
