Required Text: Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook, Davis & Jones (Hal Leonard)


Course Subjects

            An overview of the components and theories of live sound reinforcement. Students will explore basic audio electronics principles, signal flow, mic identification and placement techniques, console identification and theory, cabling types and management, and an overview of signal processing and mixing techniques as applied to live sound settings.


Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

          Students will be able to identify the components that make up a sound reinforcement system and use their knowledge of signal flow, basic acoustics, live mixing and processing concepts to successfully construct, troubleshoot, demonstrate and verbally explain a basic sound reinforcement system.


Course Requirements

Prerequisite: MUSC 1327 Audio Engineering I

•           Monitor Blackboard for messages and complete assignments

•           Communicate challenges, need for help, frustration, emergencies, changes, etc.

•           Participate in class discussion & activities

•           Submit all work via email to Charles.medlin@austincc.edu

•           Complete work as assigned
