Course Requirements

Grades:          A= 90-100%               900-1000 points

                        B= 80-89%                 800-899 points

                        C=70-79%                  700-799 points

                        D=60-69%                  600-699 points

                        F=0-59%                    0-599 points

Grades are based on orientation, workouts (with logs), chapter quizzes, chapter activities, program review, and tests. If you have any questions concerning grading, please ask your instructor. The specific grading requirements for this course are as follows: 

25 points - Orientation/fit test

300 points – Workout/logs

300 points – Chapter quizzes

300 points – Chapter Activities

25 points - Final/fit test

50 points- Program review

Course Subjects

The purpose of this course is to learn the specific skills and/or techniques of physical fitness. By actively participating in this class, the student may gain health benefits such as increased cardiovascular endurance, improved body composition, increased flexibility, increased muscular endurance, and increased muscular strength. Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Course Objectives:

  • Design and follow a sound fitness plan and complete up to 15 hours for maximum credit; workouts may be completed at home or a facility of your choice. Workout log with times required for credit.
  • Prepare for and submit pre-test and post-test assessments.
  • Meet deadlines completing assigned quizzes and activities from the textbook and Blackboard

Departmental Objectives:

1. To learn the fundamentals, skills, and strategies of learning and obtaining physical fitness.

2. To learn how to correctly execute required skills and techniques as well as to use the equipment/facilities safely.

3. To understand how Kinesiology relates to a healthy individual lifestyle.

Student Learning Outcomes: Students will design and demonstrate their own workout routine.
