This course will provide you with a specialized skill that will enable you to meet the current and future needs of the business world.

Prerequisite:  Reading-TSI

Textbook:        
You must purchase an access code for this course from www.keyboardingonline.com

TEN KEY MASTERY. Textbooks are not required.

Instructional Methodology:

  • Web-based tutorial software for learning the numeric keys
  • Student guide that details how to complete the course requirements
  • Instructor- and Lab Tech-assisted flex-entry computer lab

  •      Lesson 24                                                            5-Minute Timed Writing            10%
  •      Temporary Help Employment Test (Lesson 31)                                                      20%
  •      Credit Card Employment Test (Lesson 32)                                                            20%

*******Your unweighted score will be higher than your final grade because it is an average of all scores, whereas your final score is calculated using the highest score from each lesson.

FINAL GRADE

A    =      90% and above

B    =      80-89%

C    =      70-79%

D    =      60-69%

F    =      59% or below

KEYPAD TIMED WRITINGS GRADING SCALE

A    =      12,000 ksph

B    =      10,000 ksph

C    =        8,000 ksph

D    =        6,000 ksph

F    =      below 6,000

The maximum error allowance for keypad timings is 2% per group.

Course Student Learning Outcomes:  At the completion of POFT 1231, the student will be able to:

  • Reach the industry standards for data entry by keying 12,000+ keystrokes per hour with 98% accuracy for an A.
  • Reach the data entry skill by keying 10,000 strokes per hour with 98% accuracy for a B.
  • Reach the data entry skill by keying 8,000 strokes per hour with 98% accuracy for a C.
