Monitor your progress

I will provide the feedback for each assignment in one week after your submission.

Grading Policy

Assignments submitted after the due date will receive a 10% grade deduction. For example, assignments which would have been graded an A will be graded as B, or instead of 100%, the grade will be 90%. Work submitted after two days past the original due date will not be accepted and will receive a zero.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Student Learning Outcomes, General Education Competencies, & SCANS:

 

Course Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Enable the student to recognize the relationship of effective communications skills to success in academic, work and social environments.
  • Challenge the student to understand how to plan and develop messages that achieve the message objective and maintain goodwill by using the CBO approach, an appropriate message strategy, and basic message qualities.
  • Develop both written and oral communication skills to produce clear, complete, accurate messages.
  • Understand message strategies and formats appropriate for professional communication situations.

SCANS:

Department SCANS skills for this and other Office Administration courses in the program are given below. Students will demonstrate their master of these skills through the use of class discussions, written assignments, demonstrations, and/or test taking.

  • Reading - locates, understands, and interprets written information in prose and in documents such as manuals, graphs, and schedules
  • Writing-communicates thoughts, ideas, information, and messages in writing; and creates documents such as letters, directions, manuals, reports, graphs, and flow charts
  • Listening - receives, attends to, interprets, and responds to verbal messages and other cues
  • Speaking - organizes ideas and communicates orally
