Course Requirements
Tests and Final Exam
The dates for the tests and the Final are indicated in the attached schedule of work. Test One will include Lesson 5 and 6; Test Two is over Lesson 7, 8, and 9. The final is oral and comprehensive. It will cover all five lessons. Regular and careful preparation for class is the best way to prepare for the tests. If you are unable to take the exam on time, you must provide proof of a valid reason for missing it and inform the instructor before the exam.
Quizzes
You will take weekly vocabulary and dictation quizzes either during class. Make-up quizzes are not given.
Homework
Homework assigned from the Workbook will be collected biweekly. To complete the listening comprehension activities from the Workbook, you will need to access the audio link given on the syllabus. Homework must be uploaded to Blackboard by midnight on the day of the class.
Oral Exams
You will have an individual interview with me at the end of the semester. Guidelines and times will be given.
Class Participation
You are expected to attend class on Zoom from Mondays to Thursdays and be prepared for grammar discussions and drills. The material covered in each session is indicated in the attached schedule; make sure you study the material before coming to class. TURNING ON YOUR CAMERA DURING CLASS IS MANDATORY!
Following are some of the behaviors that will result in deductions from the overall session grade:
- Missing class more than two classes (1% deduction for each absence)
- Being absent when called during class
- Not participating in Breakout room
- Being disruptive

Discipline Learning Outcomes for Korean:
After four semesters of Korean, students should be able to:
- apply a variety of reading strategies to increase understanding of written material and state the main idea and some details of a text based on familiar material and authentic texts;
- use a variety of listening strategies in order to increase understanding of basic everyday conversations and state the main idea and some details when listening to a passage on familiar material;
- analyze the implications of information
- maintain simple everyday conversations on a variety of topics (including descriptions, comparisons, recommendations, narrating in the past, expressing likes and preferences, making hypothetical statements, talking about the future) while demonstrating awareness of the sequence of tenses, use of prepositions and levels of speech politeness;
