Course Requirements
- Chapter Observation and Self-Reflection - You will complete one self-reflections on a chapter that I assign to you. This is an individual grade to be done on your own. This will be an oral presentation delivered in class. The requirements are detailed in Blackboard. This is a total of 15% of the overall course grade.
- Interviewing Assignment: This is a three-part assignment. The requirements and grading rubric are detailed in Blackboard. You are required to research a company/organization (lots of options in the requirements document) that you’d like to work for. Research the company/organization. Find a job posting you’d like to pursue at that company, write a tailored resume and a cover letter. You will submit all requirements through Blackboard. 15% of overall grade
- Class Participation – each class period, I expect you to participate in the conversation. Attendance will be taken and you are expected to offer at least one comment, experience, insight per meeting 10% of overall grade
- Business Presentation: You have been selected to be on the TV show “Shark Tank.” You have invented a super cool new product or have formed your own company, and you need to persuade the “sharks” to invest. You will also have a Q&A session with the sharks. The sharks will be your audience members. You are required to present to at minimum two audience members either in person, or virtually. This is a persuasive presentation. Slide Deck, Delivery, Research, and Organization will be graded. Details are in Blackboard. This will be presented in class. 20% of overall grade
- Teamwork Assignment: You must successfully complete the Gilligan’s Island project in your designated team. The details are indicated in the assignment requirement document in Blackboard. You will meet via virtual meeting software The virtual meeting software must allow you to share your webcams and screens and you MUST record your meeting. One person should be designated as the team leader who will record the meeting, upload to Google. I will grade the teamwork based on communication skills detailed in the assignment requirements using the grading rubric in Blackboard. Each team member will submit the link, agenda, and minutes through Blackboard. 20% of overall grade
- Multiple Choice Exams: (Details and Requirements in Blackboard) These tests are open as of day one and will deactivate on a specific day and time detailed in the syllabus.
- Exam 1 – Chapters 5-8 10% of total grade
- Exam 2 – Chapters 1-4 10% of total grade
