Course Requirements

This course introduces fundamental project management concepts, processes, and knowledge areas and illustrates the guiding principles that drive the management of projects. Focus is placed on identifying strategic direction, meeting stakeholder expectations, and achieving business objectives. Project management knowledge and skills are applied in selecting, defining, and preparing a project plan. Students will select a project and develop a charter, baseline, scope, and comprehensive project management plan.  Emphasis is given to project management tools and techniques, ethical decision-making, and critical thinking.

Module 1 – Project Fundamentals for Everybody

Introduction and Chapter 1 - Projects Everywhere - From a World Driven by Efficiency to a World Driven by Change

 1.1.1.      Illustrate today’s project economy that is driven by change instead of efficiency.

 1.1.2.       Examine the rise of the project economy.

 1.1.3.       Describe the path to becoming a project leader.

 1.1.4.       Compare the project canvas approach used by the textbook author and the Project Management Body of Knowledge used by the Project Management Institute.
