Quizzes

Each quiz covers specific section(s) of the course. All quizzes are to be taken closed-book and may be attempted unlimited number of times, with the highest score recorded.

Each quiz problem is worth some number of points. If a question is missed or left unanswered, the points are deducted from the grade. Multiple-choice questions don’t require showing work and no partial credit applies. The quiz average comprises 30% of the final grade.

Labs

In order to succeed in the laboratory, students must familiarize with the material before starting the lab. Each student’s outcome is evaluated on the individual basis. Completion of all objectives is required for full credit. If a project results in a completion grade, no credit is issued unless the report is completed and entirely correct. The instructor reserves the right to ask additional questions after reviewing the submitted lab; these questions must be answered correctly before the lab is credited. Submission of each lab is expected before the deadline. Lab work submitted late is subject to a penalty of 2%, 3% and 4% per day in 9-, 12-, and 16-week courses, respectively. Face-to-face sections require doing all lab work on campus, during scheduled class hours. To submit a lab, email the scanned or photographed report or handout to the instructor. Labs can’t be resubmitted once the deadline passes. The lab average comprises 70% of the final grade.

No lab is accepted after the day of the semester’s last class meeting. Also, a lab can’t be accepted after some or all of the answers were discussed in class, even if the discussion took place the day after the lab was due; in such case, the late penalty policy doesn’t apply and a score of 0/100 is recorded.

Laboratory report grading policy:

Wrong answers: –4 points each

Wrong explanations: –8 points each

Skipped questions: –8 points each
