Course Requirements
This is a hyrbrid course which gives students a bit more flexbility than a traditional in-person course. If you are unable to attended the scheduled in-person class (Located at an ACC Campus) for whatever reason, please shoot me an email and you will be givent the option to come and complete a make-up workout OR an online assignment.
Fitness Tests: There is a short fitness test to assess where you are starting in your fitness journey. This test will be repeated at the end of the semester to assess program success. Your grade is not tied to any fitness test result; this is just a tool to provide insight.
Workouts:These will occur in class. Each class will have a different variation of workout combinations to best accomodate for individual student needs and goals.
Course Subjects
Course Rationale: The purpose of this course is to learn the specific skills and/or the techniques of the activity. By actively participating in an activity class, the student may gain health benefits such as increased cardiovascular endurance, improved body composition, increased flexibility, increased muscular endurance and increased muscular strength. Participating in activity classes leads to a healthier lifestyle.
Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will know what exercises will work what muscle groups. Students will be able to perform basic strength exercises to the best of their individual abilities.
Departmental Objectives:
1.To learn the rules, fundamentals, skills and strategies of learning how to weight train.
2. To learn how to correctly execute required skills and techniques as well as to use the equipment/facilities safely.
3. To understand how Kinesiology relates to a healthy individual lifestyle.
