Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Students will have directed studies and guidance to develop and work on class assignments, projects, and portfolios.


Course Prerequisites/Description

The purpose of this class is to conduct directed studies in the production of photographic media and portfolios.

Prerequisites:
PHTC 1274.

Corequisites:
One or more: PHTC 1341, PHTC 1345, PHTC 1347, PHTC 1351, PHTC 1353, PHTC 2351, PHTC 2431, PHTC 2442, PHTC 2453.


Course Subjects

Topics + guidance include:

· Developing a cohesive body of work, from concept to editing, producing, and presenting.

· Understanding and participating in critiques, portfolio reviews, and creative meetings.

· Post production/retouching techniques for the screen and the page.

· Paper selection, printing, and archival concerns.

· Writing an artist’s statement, project statement, CV and bio.

· Best practices + maintaining an inventory of work including use of titles, date, media, naming conventions, and dimensions.

· Researching and applying for opportunities in Calls for Work.

Grading Policy

Grading is based on professionalism, coursework assignments, and final portfolio. This course requires participation in the department wide Exhibition CFE.

Coursework will consist of multiple modes of inquiry such as class assignments, peer reviews, and a final portfolio.
