Course Requirements

All class communication will be done through ACC email and Blackboard. Be sure to check your ACC email and Blackboard Announcement in a timely manner. Instructor will utilize readings (the required textbook, in addition to readings provided in Blackboard), PowerPoint presentations, videos, homework assignments, and exams. In order to continue this course, you must earn at least an average of 80% on the orientation quiz in MindTap under the caption COURSE ORIENTATION QUIZ.

 

There will be 11 regular homework assignments, each one at the end of every chapter and THREE exams. There will be NO Homework on chapter(s) marked *. There will be two mid-term exam and one final exam.

This course is centered around the textbook, and there will be some assigned readings from this textbook (and the textbook can also serve as a reinforcement for content introduced in lecture). You will need a MindTap access to do your homework and access the text book and other resources.  You have a direct link to the textbook and homework on Blackboard. Technical Support is posted on Blackboard as well so you can always refer to it if you need help accessing the materials.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Students who complete this course will be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate GDP, unemployment, and inflation data.
  2. Explain the business cycle and its phases.
  3. Manipulate the basic Aggregate Supply, Aggregate Demand model of the macro economy.
  4. Explain fiscal policy tools and defend and criticize the usage fiscal policy.
  5. Describe how a fractional reserve banking system works.
  6. Explain monetary policy tools and defend and criticize the usage monetary policy.
