Course Subjects
Course Description: Instruction in networking technologies and their implementation. Topics include the OSI reference model, network protocols, transmission media, and networking hardware and software. We will be integrating Cengage Mindtap into this course so everyone will need to NOT opt out of it. Your tuition costs cover the digital book using the Cengage MindTap link in our class. This class is an in-person section. Regular and punctual class and lab attendance is expected of all students.

- Recommend selection of architecture, topology, hardware and software
- Prepare capacity and throughput plan
- Specify servers and supporting hardware and software
- Explain the difference between private and public TCP/IP networks
- Implement classful IP addressing
- Specify wired and wireless facilities
- Integrate network components
- Implement new system configuration
- Perform workstation configuration and software loading
- Perform network fault management
- Set up and maintain user accounts
- Analyze system performance to baseline
- Monitor and report component and connectivity problems
- Apply maintenance upgrades, security enhancements and process changes
- Perform system backups and restore data
- Troubleshoot and maintain client, server and network systems
- Evaluate system, network, and security requirements
- Implement and enforce system and user security requirements
