Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives
Students will practice the roles and responsibilities of working as a photographer and assistant in the fashion industry. Students will work with models, stylists, and make-up artists. Various styles of fashion and beauty lighting will be explored as well as historic and current trends in the fashion world. Students will begin to develop a personal sense of style and contribute to to the conversation of contemporary fashion photography.
Course Prerequisites/Description
Course Prerequisites:
PHTC 1353, PHTC 1340
OR
An Associates degree or higher in Photography, or by Department Chair approval via portfolio submission for working professionals.
Course Corequisites:
Must be taken with PHTC 2274 Directed Study Year Two Camera and Digital Darkroom.
Catalog Description
The purpose of this class is to work with advanced concepts in the study of contemporary fashion photography and content.
Course Requirements
- Students will need to provide models and talent; we will cover best practice strategies for this in class. Communicating with models, stylists, agencies and teammates is imperative to doing fashion work.
- At least one assignment must be shot on location.
- Participating in the semester portfolio reviews is required for this class.
